Building Your Shelf

“Building Your Shelf” is a collaborative workshop where K-12 counselors will work to “build their digital bookshelf” based on their favorite SEL children’s books to guide their practice. All books will be directly linked to the ISCA Standards and will include resources for when and how a book might be used to teach counselor curriculum. Counselors will leave with a “shelf” of favorites to inform their work with students and families alike.

Speaker: Dr. Annalice Hayes

Dr. Annalice Hayes has over a decade of experience as a middle school counselor and is a mom of two. With a particular interest in child protection and personal safety, Annalice is an active member of her school’s child protection committee and she weaves her work as a professional and as a parent to guide both her students and children in teaching them that “if it doesn’t feel quite right, you don't have to be polite”
