SFBT Foundations Part 1 provides essential elements for understanding the origins, history, development, philosophy, key assumptions, and the basic structure for conducting a first session process in SFBT.

The SFBT process involves:

  • Rapport building and creating trust and safety with students: (the ‘who’)

  • Co-constructing the desired outcome: establishing ownership and customership with students (the ‘what’)

  • Application of solution building tools

    • Miracle Question

    • Scaling Question

    • Coping Question

    • Relationship Question

    • Exception-Finding Questions

    • Evidence based Compliments

  • Wrapping up the session

Certification Pathway

If you’re interested in earning certification, this module can be applied. 

Certification: “Certified Solution Focused Practitioner” Requirements, Total 50 hrs

  • Module 1: Foundations 1,   (12 hrs) 

  • Module 2: Foundations 2,   (12 hrs)

  • Module 3: Microskills in SF, (12 hrs)

  • Supervision (3 hrs)+Assessment (1 hr) +Self study (10 hrs)

**This course is synchronous, conducted live in real-time and requires your full attendance and participation throughout the duration of the course. Your presence and engagement will enable you to earn SF certificate of attendance and an ISCA Credly badge.

And, upon successful completion of the full 50 hours, participants will earn: "Certified Solution Focused Practitioner” certification, from Academy of Solution Focused Training, Accredited by IASTI.

Please note that refunds or credits cannot be issued within 59 days of the course start date.

Plan to sign in via the provided Zoom link at least five (5) minutes before the scheduled course start time to ensure a punctual beginning. Please be aware that if you join the session more than 30 minutes late (or 20% of the course), you will miss essential instruction and discussion; thus, you will not be eligible to earn a certificate or badge. The course materials in Canvas will remain available to you; however, the facilitator will not be able to review the content that you missed.
