Solution Focused Brief Therapy: Supervision and Assessment (Part 4)

After having completed Foundations 1 (12 hours), Foundations 2 (12 hours), and Microskills (12 hours). This qualifies you to participate in the Supervision + Assessment to earn Certification at Level 1: Certified Solution Focused Practitioner and Solution Focused ISCA Specialization Certification.

In this final SFBT Supervision + Assessment + Self Study it will include the following:

Supervision + Assessment (4 hours)

1. The focus of Supervision is to reinforce your skills and confidence in your application of Solution Focused Practice your SF Supervisor will provide guidance and feedback and assess  your competence  self-paced learning and scheduled with your Supervisor on zoom to maximize your learning, it is advised to complete supervision within 6 months of completing Microskills.
2. Supervision topics can include:
   1. Presenting a case in which you seek support
   2. Reviewing the SF process and how you applied it
   3. Processing questions related to SF Practice
   4. Reviewing readings related to SF Practice
   5. The last session will focus on the “Assessment" of your SF skills application in a shared recording or live demo with your supervisor.

Self Study, 10 hours

1. Self study includes activities outside the course related to your development and application of SF, such as
2. 1. Reading SF related books, articles
   2. Watching SF related videos, clips
   3. Apply SF in your work through counseling, running a workshop on SF, writing an article, research, etc to be shared with your Supervisor

Upon successful completion of  the above, you will be awarded Certified Solution Focused Practitioner  and Solution Focused ISCA Specialization Certification.

Participants will have knowledge about:

1. The unique flavor solution focused practice brings and its keys
2. How to remain solution-focused without being solution-forced
3. Staying in the mindset and philosophical beliefs that are the bedrock of solution focused practice
4. Finding their own personal groove and comfort in utilizing solution focused practice within the educational setting
5. What it means to connect meaningfully, collaboratively, respectfully with each student client and stakeholder

Participants will be able to:

1. Distinguish key differences in traditional therapeutic approaches that focus on problem resolution to working in a solution focused orientation
2. Utilize the unique capability of each student client and their stakeholders to support the changes they want to see
3. Develop their own unique style and integrate solution focused practice naturally, powerfully and meaningfully.
4. Clarify goal co-construction in terms of the stated desired changes and away from the problem fixing / solving orientation.
5. Use powerful and elegant questions that enhance self-efficacy and resilience with student clients
6. Utilize solution focused practice outside the counseling room into broader and wider applications

Debbie Hogan has been in Private Practice as a Individual and Family Therapist for more than 30 years. She learned Solution Focused Practice from the developers, Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer more than 20 years ago and has been training and supervising other practitioners in their development. She is a Master Certified Solution Focused Therapist and Master Clinicial Member and Supervisor. She currently trains other therapists and coaches in SF Practice and was the first to bring Solution Focused Professional Certification and Coaching to Asia.

Debbie is a Life and Executive Coach is a Master Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and an Accredited Team Coach and Coach Supervisor

She has been committed to the development of a solution focused community in Asia and author and editor of 6 books on Solution Focused Practice.

5. You will co-create the ideal supervision experience with your Supervisor

Time commitment between sessions: Minimal: Self-directed Practice and application of skills; Reading and reflecting on learnings
