AI for School Counselors: A Beginner’s Guide. This 75-minute interactive virtual session during the collaborative equips School Counselors new to AI with practical tools and strategies for leveraging its potential. We’ll start by addressing common barriers and concerns around implementing AI in the School Counseling realm. We’ll also take a look at user-friendly chatbots, and how to use them effectively, and education-specific AI solutions tailored for schools.
Throughout the session, you’ll learn best practices for selecting and integrating AI while maintaining ethical standards. Real-world examples will illustrate how AI can enhance student support services and School Counselor productivity.
Leave feeling empowered to take your first steps with AI and an idea of how to make AI habitual in your work. Whether you’re completely new to AI or have dabbled briefly, this beginner-focused training will provide a solid foundation to modernize your counseling practice. Time for Q&A will be included at the end, so bring your questions with you!

Participants will gain insights into the nuanced perspectives influencing AI’s adoption in schools. However, position statements alone are insufficient. We’ll discuss how schools need pragmatic strategies that uphold ethical AI use while harnessing its benefits for student success.

About the Speaker
Lindsay Kehl is an experienced international School Counselor, having worked in Panama, Zambia, India, Romania, and Japan. Now U.S.-based, she founded Lindsay Kehl Consulting and Collaborative. Through her company, Lindsay provides training to School Counselors and teachers on social-emotional topics vital to student development. She also collaborates with organizations in the college counseling field and offers personalized college counseling services. While not a tech expert, Lindsay is passionate about empowering international School Counselors to leverage innovative tools and strategies.
