Following her keynote session at the ISCA Virtual Conference, author Jennifer Abrams invites you to dive deeper into her latest book Stretching Your Learning Edges in this powerful, three-part virtual book club.
Each 90-minute session will explore key concepts and reflective practices to help educators grow professionally and personally. Using tools such as self-assessments, development continuums, journaling prompts, and discussion exercises, participants will explore five essential facets of adult development and walk away with both individual and team growth plans.
Whether you’re a counselor, leader, or educator striving to level up your communication, collaboration, and self-awareness, this series is designed to meet you where you are—and move you forward.
Session Details
Session 1: January 20, 2026 Focus: Chapters 1 & 2 – Overview of the 5 facets of adult development and the first steps to growth
Session 2: February 17, 2026 Focus: Chapters 3 & 4 – Deepening understanding and reflection through exercises and conversations
Session 3: March 3, 2026 Focus: Chapters 5 & 6 – Creating your personal and team development plans

Jennifer Abrams is formerly a high school English teacher, new teacher coach and professional development facilitator for Palo Alto Unified School District (Palo Alto, CA, USA), Jennifer Abrams is currently a communications consultant and author who works with educators and others on new teacher and employee support, being generationally savvy, effective collaboration skills, having hard conversations and creating identity safe workplaces.
Jennifer’s publications include Having Hard Conversations, The Multigenerational Workplace: Communicate, Collaborate & Create Community, Hard Conversations Unpacked – the Whos, Whens and What Ifs, and Swimming in the Deep End: Four Foundational Skills for Leading Successful School Initiatives. Her newest book is Stretching Your Learning Edges: Growing (Up) at Work.
Jennifer has shared her work in other mediums as a featured columnist on growth and change for Learning Forward’s The Learning Professional journal as well as contributing to The International Educator (TIE) focusing her writing on adult development and collaboration skills.
Jennifer has been invited to keynote, facilitate and coach at schools and conferences in across North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. She has been honored to have been named one of the “18 Women All K-12 Educators Should Know,” by Education Week’s ‘Finding Common Ground’’ blog.
