Social Emotional Learning programs are a powerful way to impact the climate and culture of a school when done effectively. While many educators implement SEL curriculum, few understand the difference between teaching versus facilitating the lessons. Research demonstrates that through FACILITATING small group SEL lessons, peer relationships are stronger, teacher/student connections are richer and school climate is enhanced. This immersive, hands-on workshop will introduce participants to small group activities through meaningful dialogue and interactive practice.
Participants will gain effective facilitation skills, discover the benefits of gender-specific support systems, and connect their learning to current research.
Session objectives:
To understand the importance of effective group implementation
To become aware of social/emotional research on gendered groups
To learn the value of experiential activities for group implementation.
