Subject: Rescheduling of the 2020 ISCA Annual Conference due to the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)
Due to the evolving 2019-Novel Coronavirus (NGoV) world health emergency, the International School Counselor Association (ISCA) has decided to reschedule theAnnual Conference, which was due to take place on March 18-21, 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand. Please know that your health and safety is a top priority for ISCA and with so many variables and uncertainty surrounding the situation we could no longer move forward.
We have rescheduled the 2020 ISCA Annual Conference for October 23-25, 2020 in Bangkok at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit with the same speakers: Dr. Sean Truman, PREPaRE pre-conference (Thursday and Friday, October 22-23, 2020) and Ruth Van Reken pre-conference (Friday, October 23, 2020).
This decision wasn’t taken lightly and there were numerous factors that went into the final decision to reschedule:
Most critically, having a large group of people together from approximately 50 countries during the peak of a highly contagious outbreak would put people at risk.
A large number of attendees are from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and they are unable to attend due to Government-imposed travel restrictions.
Several attendees are traveling from countries who have quarantine restrictions in place for anyone who comes in contact with anyone who’s visited mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, thus impacting their lives upon their return.
Attendees from around the world who were having difficulty with their air travel due to flight restrictions beyond their control.
We recognize this decision has a financial component for attendees with payments for flights and other matters related to the Conference, but we had to consider the greater good and well-being of the group. We will be offering this letter as proof of rescheduling due to this world health emergency and it can be shared with your airlines and others in an effort to receive a full refund. Additional resources are available on our website.
ISCA is providing a number of options for you as you decide your next steps regarding the Conference and the Hotel reservation.

Subject: Ongoing monitoring of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) situation and the impact upon the 2020 Conference
Your health and safety is a top priority for ISCA.
As we monitor the very fluid developments in relation to Novel Coronavirus and its impacts to Thailand and International travel, the March 18-21, 2020 ISCA Annual Conference Bangkok continues as planned.
ISCA is in constant contact with our hotel partner and we are staying abreast of information from the World Health Organization, the Thailand Department of Disease Control and numerous additional sources. The precautions being taken by the Thai government and other health organizations over the next weeks will continue to evolve and we will be vigilant in our responsibility to attendees.
We are working with individual attendees who are currently in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan who are either under travel restrictions or being evacuated. Other countries have protocol in place that we are monitoring in real time. Please check with your airline if there are any disruptions to your flights, but as of this moment there does not appear to be any changes to flights in and out of Thailand.
Regardless, as a valued attendee if you decide that traveling to Thailand at this time isn’t feasible, you may cancel your conference registration as long as it is prior to February 20, 2020. Due to credit card transactions and administrative costs, a $50 cancellation fee will be deducted. After February 21, 2020 ISCA will be unable to refund any registration fees. Please contact ISCA at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
As we have previously, ISCA encourages you to stay up to date on the latest information by visiting these important websites:
We will continue to update our attendees on this website and via email weekly or as warranted. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at email@example.com.

Subject: 2020 Conference Update and Monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Situation
We are writing to let you know that we are closely monitoring the situation of the Wuhan coronavirus, a flu virus impacting mainland and central China. There have been a few reported cases of this virus spreading outside of China to other countries such as Japan, Thailand, South Korea and the USA. However, in nearly all cases those infected have previously been in the Wuhan region.
We are planning to hold our March 18-21 conference as planned. The World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Thailand’s Department of Disease Control have not issued any travel advisories to or within Thailand; therefore, we do not have reason to believe that the conference cannot proceed as planned. As a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand has implemented thermal screening of travelers and screenings within hospitals.
Rest assured we are monitoring the situation daily and communicating with necessary authorities as to how to proceed. Your health and safety are our first priorities.
Participants traveling from or through China should monitor the situation closely as, for the moment, restrictions have currently been placed on traveling from China.
To stay current on the situation in Thailand we encourage you to check the following websites which are updated daily:
Should the situation change, we will communicate directly with participants as soon as possible. If you have any additional questions please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
